Antique Stone and Architectural Treasures
Monterey Masonry, located in southwestern Massachusetts, searches constantly for antique and hard-to-find stone elements for your home and garden. We have dismantled colonial fireplaces which you may reconstruct in your new or antique home. We have hearth stones, cheek stones, lintels, steps, landings, gateposts, wall copings, columns, bollards, and singular pieces like original New England millstones and well stones. We have pallets of rare stones for chimneys, walls, veneers, terraces and pathways.

We sell to garden designers, architects, masons, and individual clients.

Stone Troughs

We make these stone troughs at our workshop in the winter out of 19th c. granite blocks. The insides are tapered so ice won't damage them. Use them as a horse trough, fountain, or we can put drains in them for use as planters. The smaller one is 103" long x 22" high and 20" wide; the larger is 129" long x 24" high x 23" wide.

Marble steps

Marble steps from a demolished church. Alabaster white. 8' long with a rise of 6.5" and a run of 11-12". The rises have a rock face and the runs have a beautiful old patina.

Recycled schist

Recycled schist paving from the 1950’s. Large slabs sawn on 4 sides and with sawn bottoms. Paving slabs 30” wide in lengths 30 inches to six feet. Average length is four to five feet. 5000 SF available.

Antique Stair Stringers

An alternative to gate posts: You can install a pair of these old granite stair stringers at the entrance to your driveway or as the gateway to your garden. The stair steps are perfect for flowerpots, found objects, whatever. Use your imagination! The photo on the right shows some stair stringers as displayed in Maria Nation's garden.

SOLD: Very Large Antique Bluestone slabs

SOLD: Each stone is 9 ft. 3 in. x 7 ft. 8 in. x 6 in. thick. These are amazing and rare. Each stone is approximately 71 square feet. Stunning for a terrace. You won't see these come along again.

Antique Bluestone Sidewalks (5730)

If you are restoring the sidewalk in front of your brownstone and want to be historically accurate you will want to use these old sidewalk stones.

Antique Bluestone Sidewalks (5733)

These are original bluestone sidewalks, salvaged from towns in the Northeast. The sizes are various, typically 3’ x 3’ and larger.Squares and rectangles. They are 3” to 5” thick. A 3’ x 4’ piece will weigh approximately 700 lbs.
